Course Name: Algebra I

Grading Policy
 Each student will be graded in four areas:
Classwork (20%)
homework (20%)
tests (35%)
quizzes (25%)
All are important to your child’s overall understanding of the material. It should be understood that if your child misses class, then your child misses the intended instruction. If a student is absent, he/she is responsible for all missed assignments, tests and/or quizzes. If a student misses any assignment, for any reason (including school sponsored trips and concerts), they will be required to make it up. It is important to understand that completing missed assignments may require your child do work outside the regular school day.

 

 

Homework Policy
 • I will utilize Schoology to post assignments and students should check this daily.
• We will use ClassNote book for online note taking and homework completion.
• All virtual instruction will take place on Teams.
• We will use the Ti-Nspire graphing calculator. There is no need to purchase this, because it can be accessed on the BPS Virtual Desktop located at https://vdi.buffaloschools.org/

 

 

Test Policy
 Missed tests must be made up.

 

 

Quiz Policy
 Missed quizzes must be made up.

 

 

Projects
 Missed quizzes must be made up.

 

 

Course Outline
 • The first two weeks – We will spend learning the different technology that various teachers are using during virtual learning
• We will then work on the various topics in Algebra
o Module 1: Relationships Between Quantities and Reasoning
with Equations and Their Graphs
o Module 2: Descriptive Statistics
o Module 3: Linear and Exponential Functions
o Module 4: Polynomial and Quadratic Expressions, Equations and Functions
o Module 5: Modeling with Equations and Functions
• Once we move into the mathematics, we will have a Quiz every
1-2 weeks.
• We will have 1-2 tests per module.

I do recommend a stylus so that your child is able to write on their device. I recommend the Arykx from Amazon. You get 2 stylii for $12.99.
